ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder):
Medically ADHD is defined as a persistent pattern of inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity which interferes with functioning and development.
If you have a child who is constantly on the go, acts impulsively, cannot wait, struggles to focus, it is challenging as parent to know how best to support and help the child.
Early diagnosis is recommended to help the child reach their full potential in school or to avoid negative impact on their confidence and self esteem. If left undiagnosed and untreated, ADHD symptoms can have an major impact on a young person, leading to mental health difficulties.
We provide ADHD Assessments in keeping with NICE Guidelines by fully involving you in the process and using validated rating scales. We also collect information from the school and observe the child in clinical settings.
Following ADHD Diagnosis, intervention and treatment is discussed and explored in terms of behavioural strategies, adaptions at home and school, parenting strategies and possibly medication if indicated.
Autism Spectrum Disorder:
Children and young people with autism spectrum disorder struggle with social interaction and communication. They have significant problems in terms of their ability to make sense of other people’s behaviour and at times struggle with rigidity and sensory overload.
They might have intense interests and hobbies which may appear excessive or extreme to other people.
Children and young people with ASD may feel excluded or lonely.
If unrecognised and undiagnosed, individuals with Autism spectrum disorder can develop co- morbid conditions including anxiety, depression and OCD.
We provide comprehensive assessments for ASD in keeping with NICE Guidelines. Early developmental history and background information is obtained from parents followed by a structured play session with the child/young person.
Mood Disorders:
Adolescence is a time of dynamic change and teenagers are actively trying to find their place in the world.
A lot of young people can experience anxiety and depression because of various stressors in life including pressure of school, hormonal changes, parental conflict, bullying (sometimes thorough social media) and relationship difficulties.
Sometimes parents need support to help their children effectively navigate through these life challenges.
We are here to help to explore and understand your child’s difficulties and struggles.
We provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and your child/ teenagers can spend 1:1 time with the psychiatrist to explore their difficulties and understand how best to support and treat any mental health conditions.
